The BMA welcomes Brooklyn-based sculptor and installation artist Afruz Amighi for a talk detailing her artistic process, usage of light as a medium, and the ways her work engages more complex themes of spirituality, politics, violence, and displacement. Amighi’s work analyzes the transformation of a material to immaterial, also suggesting an essential symbiotic relationship between dark and light as seen in her piece, The Migration of Stars/ while you were gone, which is on view in our current exhibition, Light Play, in the BMA’s Jemison Gallery on the second floor.
